Our Mission

The mission of Polk County Transit Services is to coordinate and ensure safe, timely, and cost effective door-to-door and fixed-route transit services while extending dignity and respect to those we serve.

The Board of County Commissioners is the designated Community Transportation Coordinator (CTC) for Polk County. The CTC is responsible for managing and coordinating the Medicaid Non- Emergency Transportation and Transportation Disadvantaged programs, as well as the transportation sponsored by various agencies.

During emergencies, such as hurricanes or flooding, the CTC is responsible for evacuation of individuals to Special Care Shelters and public shelters. For further information, click on Emergency Mgmt.

The Board of County Commissioners is the Federal grant recipient and administrator of Winter Haven Area Transit (W.H.A.T.). See Winter Haven Area Transit for more information.
